President’s Welcome Address
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the First Neonatology Conference: Mediterranean and More (1st NeoMeMo), organized in collaboration with the neonatal societies of countries within our broader geographical region.
Neonatology is a dynamically evolving scientific field, called upon to respond to the ever-increasing healthcare needs of the neonatal population, particularly critically ill newborns.
The adoption and systematic implementation of the family-centered care model has emerged as a cornerstone of modern neonatal care and is internationally recognized as a fundamental component of high-quality, patient-centered healthcare.
At the same time, existing challenges and structural barriers that hinder the universal implementation of this model across our countries are being highlighted.
This conference aims to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge, clinical experience, and evidence-based practices among the participating scientific societies, with particular emphasis on neonatal care practices applied in neighboring countries, the therapeutic protocols adopted, and the evaluation of their impact on neonatal outcomes, hospitalization, and prognosis.
Through scientific dialogue and the exchange of experiences, the foundations are laid for strengthening and consolidating collaboration among scientific societies, both at an institutional and interpersonal level, with the aim of fostering enduring relationships that will further support future scientific partnerships.
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to participate in this scientific conference and honor us with your presence in Thessaloniki, a city with a long historical legacy, a strong academic tradition, and a distinctive cultural identity. The successful achievement of the conference objectives depends on your meaningful and active participation.
